A formula for education.
A formula for finding a job.
A formula for religion.
A formula for salvation.
A formula for prayer.
A formula for Bible study.
A formula for goodness.
A formula for friendship.
A formula for health.
A formula for every dadgum thang.

Formulas. We seem to be on a constant search for the next formula to happiness, success, salvation, productivity, wealth, whatever.

What formula are you trapped in that is doing nothing for you?

I like to use a few different versions sometimes to get the point. This is rolling around in my spirit. I present to you ‭‭John 5:39-40‬.

You keep examining the scriptures because you think that in it you have eternal life. Those very Scriptures bear witness to me, but you won’t come to me in order to have life!

You search and keep on searching and examining the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet it is those [very Scriptures] that testify about Me; and still you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you, and you aren’t willing to receive from me the life you say you want.
